Gamer's Best Friend

I am so excited about Nintendogs, known as Puppy Times here in the states. It was just released in Japan and looks like it did pretty good sales wise. There are three versions of the game, each version includes different breeds of puppies to choose from. Here is a hands-on preview (CT: IGN).

It looks to be a fun, engaging, and enjoyable game. Since you can teach your puppy voice commands you will be able to teach your puppy to respond to "Sientate" (spanish for sit) as the cue to sit down. Everyone I have shown the game videos to has really become interested, even though most do not consider themselves gamers and do not even own a home console.

This seems to be good news for Nintendo. Looks like Iwata was right when speaking at the GDC, transcript can be found here (CT: Planetgamecube). He said that Nintendogs "will expand our audience to players who currently are not satisfied with what we’ve [Game Industry] been offering them."

Something new, something that is easily accessable, something that is fun. I can't wait to play it.
