Back to the Future

This one is for Tom Dale.
Thanks for your encouragement.

In an effort to start blogging again
I took a look at my previous posts and
picked the three that where my favorites:

1) Gamers Best Friend
My initial take on Nintendogs
and reactions from non-gamers.
Went on to be a massive hit with customers.

2) So You Say You Want a Revolution?
My initial take on the Nintendo Wii
when it was codenamed "Revolution".
No specs had been released at that point
and the Wiimote was in no ones wildest dreams.
Quoted Reggie Fils-Aime on nintendo's
plan for the casual consumer.

3) I'm All In!
My first reactions on seeing the Wiimote.
Wow was I hyped. It was so exciting and I
believe I hit the nail on the head with my
observations. My wife and I have shared some
video gaming time. What a wonderful time.

Zelda: A Look to the Past

I remember getting home with the golden box in my hand.

I read the instruction manual cover to cover before I touched the controller.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (video) was the best game I had played
up to that point in my life. It is still one of my favorites.

Here is an old video that highlights the series:
(Part 1 of 6, Length 6 min.)

Why VideoGames are Fun

1. They let you problem solve.
2. They entertain you.
3. They let you smile/scream/jump for joy when you pass a stage.

Super Mario 64 2

I have waited 10 years to play Super Mario 64 2. It will be called Super Mario Galaxy (trailer) and will be released later this year.

The original Mario 64 was released in September of 1996. My brother and I pulled our funds together to buy a Nintendo 64 just to play this game. It was such an incredible experience.

It was the first time I could control a character and move him anywhere in a 3D space. If you thought you could do something you probably could. You could explore each level completely and never have to go about it the same way twice.

You had goals like racing to the top of a mountain, finding a character, collecting all the red coins, the thing was you could take any path you wanted. This was such a liberating experience, all other great games had been 2D before Mario 64 which has now become the archetype for 3D platformers.

I am so excited about this game. Hopefully I will have a Wii by then.

"Donkey Is Gonna Get You... Tonight"

This game is sooooo fun!

$10 for Donkey Kong Jungle Beat with 2 pairs of bongos how can you go wrong?

You look like a fool beating those bongos but it is worth it.

2:30 a.m. a DS glowed in the darkness...

This Nintendo DS detective game looks very interesting. The art style as shown above is completely it's own. Like a black and white comic book with watercolors mixed in.

See the trailer here.

I love how game developers are being very creative with their games, which is only capable because of the Nintendo DS' uniqueness.

"I See Dead Zombies"

Resident Evil 4 is scary, fun, and cool:

I got if for $15 used. My brother-in-law and cousin-in-law came over and we played it until midnight on Christmas Eve. What a way to spend that day, right?

"That's Hot"

Cooking Momma is a great little game:

At $20, it will be my next purchase. Especially since my wife could not stop playing it.

Simple, fun, and entertaining. What more can you ask for in a game?
