"So you say you want a Revolution?"

Nintendo is playing its cards and I am hoping for a big hand in the end. Microsoft and Sony have gone head to head (HT: Joystiq) revealing as much as possible about their upcoming systems (Xbox 360 and PS3) while Nintendo is lying in wait for the perfect moment to overthrow what gamers think they know to be true about gaming.

Here are some good thoughts about Nintendo's press conference at this years E3 from 4 Color Rebellion. Gamers are excited about the ability (possible fee) to download 20 years of games for the Nintendo's new system, the Revolution.

Nintendo's philosophy about the future of gaming is one that I can really get behind. Here is Reggie Fils-Aime on the path Nintendo is taking:

"[Iwata's speech] was all about the emotion of the gaming experience and how do you bring that to life in new and provocative ways that really drive the consumer to enjoy the experience. Now, our system will truly be powerful. ATI and IBM are fantastic partners, they make fantastic products, and certainly Revolution will be substantially more powerful than all of the systems on the market today. But that's only part of the story. It's really all about pushing the four vectors that Mr. Iwata touched on. It's pushing on innovation, it's pushing on the interface, it's pushing on the intuitive nature of the system and making it inviting, making it applicable not only for the core consumer but for the casual consumer as well."

Here's to hoping for a royal flush coming from Nintendo soon.

What to Ware

Well I know I am really late on this one but WarioWareTouched! (HT: Next Level Gaming) is a great game. I played it for a while with my brother-in-law. There are a multiple of ways to interact with the quick 5 second games you are dealt.

Some require you to blow, some to spin the stylus on the screen, some to poke. All are interesting and a blast. It is really fun, so fun in fact that my beautiful wife who hates video games even gave it a shot and enjoyed herself.

So if you haven't played it yet, go out and do so.
